قالت السلطات إنه تم إجلاء أكثر من 2000 شخص بعد أن خرجت حرائق غابات عن السيطرة في لا بالما بجزر الكناري الإسبانية يوم السبت ودمرت نحو 12 منزلا.
وأثر الحريق على مساحة تبلغ حوالي 4500 هكتار (11000 فدان) وحذر المسؤولون السكان من أن الوضع قد يتفاقم بسبب موجة الحر التي جعلت التضاريس جافة.
وقال رئيس حكومة جزر الكناري، فرناندو كلافيخو: "الحريق انتشر بسرعة كبيرة. النيران خارجة عن السيطرة".
وأضاف أن بعض السكان لا يريدون ترك منازلهم، وناشد المواطنين تحمل المسؤولية والاستجابة لنداءات الإجلاء.
وأوضح كلافيخو أنه يشعر بقلق شديد من احتمال تحول الرياح ليلا، قائلا إنها قد تجعل عملية الإخلاء أكثر خطورة، مشيرا إلى أن 10 طائرات تكافح النيران، وإنه من المتوقع وصول طائرات لرش المياه.
ونشرت مواقع إخبارية ورواد مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي فيديوهات تظهر النيران المشتعلة في الغابات بلا بالما.
