قال مسؤولون في إدارة الإطفاء إن حريق غابات يستعر إلى الغرب مباشرة من متنزه يوسيميتي الوطني في ولاية كاليفورنيا الأميركية انتشر بسرعة كبيرة خلال الليل بفعل درجات الحرارة المرتفعة وجفاف الغابات والأحراج مما حوله إلى أحد أكبر حرائق الغابات هذا العام وأجبر آلاف السكان على الفرار من منازلهم.
ونقلت رويترز عن السلطات المحلية إن الحريق الذي شب في غابات أشجار البلوط لم تتم السيطرة عليه بأي درجة، ويهدد بتدمير نحو ألفي منزل وجرى إجلاء ثلاثة آلاف من منازلهم بالفعل يوم السبت. وبحلول صباح الأحد ذكرت تقارير في وسائل الإعلام أن أوامر الإجلاء صدرت لستة آلاف من السكان.
